The main objective of this program is to prepare an individual to become a junior level System or Network Administrator. This program helps an individual to pass four major industry leading IT certifications offered by CompTIA and Microsoft.

(ITEC) Network Administrator Level 1 (A+/Net+ /MCP/MCSA)

A+  (Computer Repair ): A+ certified technicians can build, repair and upgrade PC's. The A+ training module provides the knowledge and skills in hardware and operating systems, as well as customer service, which is essential for entry-level computer service technician jobs, including:

  • Installation, configuration, and upgrading
  • Motherboard, processors, and memory
  • Printers and portable computers
  • Fundamentals of Windows 2003 and XP
  • File, directory, and disk management
  • Application device drivers and Windows-based utilities
  • Internet access and network connectivity
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Basic networking and telecommunications
  • Safety and preventive maintenance
  • Customer Service

Network + : This covers topics on the layers of the OSI model, features and functions of network components and the skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot basic networking hardware peripherals and protocols. Also covered are customer service issues; virus, Trojan and other security risks and ways to reduce them; and is geared towards the beginning IT Networking professional.

MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)/MCSA Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator: The MCP/MCSA certification expands on A+, and is designed to provide the skills for students to become network administrators, system administrators, information technology professionals, information systems administrators, network technicians, or technical support specialists. There are three components:

Windows XP Professional : This module focuses on Windows 2000/XP Professional installation, upgrades, file systems and access, compression, permissions, printers, hardware devices and drivers, performance monitoring and optimization, the desktop environment, network protocol and services, and network security.

Windows 2003 Server : In this module, students learn how to install Windows 2003 Server, upgrade Windows 2000 servers, and manage disks and fault tolerance. Also covered are offline files, disk compression, user groups and permissions, controlling access to shared resources, managing services, performance monitoring, network monitoring, group policy, system policy, and auditing.

Managing a Windows 2003 Network Environment: This module will focus on creating, configuring, managing, securing, and troubleshooting file, print, and web resources, as well as configuring, administering, troubleshooting and securing the network infrastructure, servers and client computers, active directory, organizational units, group policy, and remote access.

Pass any of the three Windows modules above, and you have your MCP! Pass all three, plus A+  and Network + , you have your MCSA!

  • Evenings - Mon -Thurs 6 pm to 9 pm
